Bugs Bunny is enjoying a shower under the waterfall while singing “April Showers” when Jacques “Jack” Chelaque begins to block the river by constructing a rock dam. Bugs goes up to find out what’s going on and tricks Jacques into pulling out a keystone, which causes the entire dam to fail. Bugs then returns to his shower until the water stops flowing again. This time, Jacques builds the dam with stones to make it more difficult to fail. He stands at the top of his dam, looking out for Bugs, when he sees a shark swimming toward the dam. He believes that this is Bugs playing tricks on him, since there are no sharks in the river. Little does he realize that it is a real shark, which begins to snap at him. Jacques calls for help, and Bugs comes barreling forward on a log to “help,” which results in him plowing through the dam and allowing the water to flow once again.
This time, Jacques decides to build an even bigger dam with huge blocks. He keeps his eye out for Bugs again and notices a tiny stick of dynamite floating toward him. He uses his net to cleverly scoop it up and runs off with it, which causes it to explode along the way. Jacques, slightly blackened but relieved that his dam is safe, then notices that an entire barge of dynamite and explosives is approaching the dam, which eventually blows up the entire structure. Jacques has had enough and brings his shotgun to the base of the waterfall, shooting through the water while thinking that Bugs is there singing in the shower. However, Bugs is actually tending to his garden, and his record player is playing “April Showers,” which gets shot by Jacques.
Now Bugs has had enough and declares, “This means war!” He then begins to build dams all the way along the river, blocking Jacques’s dam. Bugs taunts Jacques into blowing up each successful dam along the way until he reaches the “Grand Cooler Dam.” Jacques attempts to blow it up but gets bounced backward into the back of a police van. Bugs mentions that he will be back—in about 20 years.
